United Nations’ Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has said that sexual violence in conflict represents the World’s greatest failure to protect civilians. Toby Cadman participates in the programme “Insight” to discuss accountability for sexual violence in conflict situations.
According to Mr. Cadman, we need “a combined effort in erradicating rapes and sexual violence in conflict and recognizing it as a weapon of war“. Although the ICC, in particular, has identified sexual violence as a priority, “regrettably, it does not have jurisdiction in certain states“.
